ABOUT THE PLAY
The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical (Youth Edition) tells the story of Percy Jackson, who discovers he's a demigod—the son of a mortal mother and a Greek god father he's never met. When Zeus's lightning bolt goes missing and Percy becomes the prime suspect, he sets off on a cross-country quest with his friends Grover and Annabeth to clear his name, battling monsters and myths along the way. With an energetic pop-rock score and a story that blends humor, heart, and adventure, this musical celebrates the unlikely heroes in all of us and asks what it truly means to belong. Based on Rick Riordan's bestselling novel, with book by Joe Tracz and music and lyrics by Rob Rokicki.

Meet the Directors

Aaron Insalaco
I’m thrilled to be directing this show for my senior capstone project. It follows a boy who feels like he doesn’t belong anywhere until he’s suddenly thrown into a world of gods and monsters, where he makes friends and discovers where he belongs. The message I most want the audience to take away is this: even if you don’t feel like you fit in, you can find where you belong. You just have to keep looking. That message is a big reason I chose this show, along with its great music and my love of the books. But the biggest reason is personal. I’ve always been a weird kid who never quite fit in, for many reasons. Then I discovered theatre and found people who never made me feel bad for being different. They made me feel like a part of something amazing. I chose this show because I see myself in its main character.

Liz Novak
I am so proud of the cast for not only working hard on this but for also creating a loving environment that I got the honor to be a part of. I got to teach all of these talented and amazing cast members my dances, and I am so proud of every single one of them. I love this cast so much and I'm so lucky that I got to be a part of the process of having this show come to life.

Maya Galarza
I have always had a love for anything involving Greek Mythology, and Percy Jackson was no different. I had actually listened to the musical before I had read the first book! Point being, I’ve wanted to be involved in any production of this musical, and this is my dream come true.
Every part of this has been so much fun, not only do I work with the best crew I could ever ask for but a wonderful cast too.

Paisley Brown
Being part of The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical as music director has been such a rewarding and memorable experience. While this journey has definitely come with its challenges, it has also given me the opportunity to step outside of my comfort zone, grow as a leader, and experience theater from an entirely new perspective. One of the most meaningful parts of this process has been working with our actors on a more personal level, building trust, forming genuine connections, and creating a strong sense of community within our cast. Watching everyone grow in their confidence, develop their skills, and come together to bring this story to life has made every moment worthwhile. As I approach the end of my high school theater journey, I am especially grateful for the opportunity to leave a piece of myself in this production. This experience has taught me so much about leadership, patience, collaboration, and the importance of creating an environment where people feel supported and valued. I am incredibly proud of the work our cast and crew have put into this show, and I will always carry the memories and relationships from this experience with me. Thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout this process. I hope you enjoy our production of The Lightning Thief!

Producer's Note
Arizona out
It has been an absolute pleasure and privilege to mentor four outstanding seniors as they took on the challenge of directing The Lightning Thief for their Arizona Arts Seal Capstone Project. Watching them step into leadership roles, embrace the creative process, solve problems, and bring their vision to life has been incredibly rewarding. I am so proud of their dedication, courage, teamwork, and growth as young artists and leaders. They have shown that theater is about so much more than what happens onstage—it’s about collaboration, perseverance, and believing in what you can accomplish together. I couldn’t be prouder of these four and all they have achieved! Congratulations to Paisley Brown, Aaron Insalaco, Maya Galarza and Kiley Novak as this year's recipients of the Arizona Department of Education Arts Seal.

Owen Insalaco
Percy Jackson
I am very very excited to be in this show as the lead role. It is a huge change from my first role of ensemble in Beauty and the Beast. I would like to thank the directors for casting me in this wonderful role. I would like to thank my family for encouraging me and supporting me.

Bella Bialowitz
Annabeth Chase
Hi, I’m Bella! I’ve been performing at Crismon for about 3-4 years and in the process I unexpectedly made an entire family and an art form that I can empathize and connect with. I’ve notably performed in past productions as Sandra Wilkinson, Adella, Star-To-Be, a Three Blind Mice, and many more. I owe so much to my family, friends, and my boyfriend for supporting me in my pursuit of acting. Enjoy the show!

Hayley Lewis
Grover Underwood
Hayley is more than ecstatic to be playing Grover. Growing up with the book, she was a big fan of the series and the character himself. She has done every show at Crismon, and is the Theater/Thespian President. You may have seen Hayley as Puck in A Midsummer Night's Dream, or Abigail Williams in the Crucible. She wants to give a big shout-out to her Mom for doing everything theater related for her, and for the seniors that gave her the opportunity at her first singing role!

Nathan Prokop
Luke Castellan
Nathan participated in performing arts before he entered the world attending regional and national dance competitions in utero and as an infant. His first public performance was at the age of 2 to a self-choreographed 4 minute compilation modeled after the artistic motion dance elite competition team. He started his formal training with ballet and performed in the Nutcracker at age 7. He continued in dance expanding to hip hop and musical theater showing his dance talent in the school talent show in 2° grade. He took a short break to pursue a career as an athlete in soccer and volleyball, until he determined his sport and true passion is performing on stage and film.

I would like to thank my family and friends for all they have done for me. I am motivated to do this because I love to be on stage and I love performing. This is my very first production that I am in but in elementary school i was in my school's choir and we did our own little show and I had lots of speeding parts in that. I wanted to start off as ensemble so that I could work my way up to having a role as a character. I wanted to be in this production because I love watching the Percy Jackson TV show and it seemed fun to be in a show where the seniors are the directors. A little about me is that I love to go to the Los Angeles Dodger baseball games, I love Wicked the musical, and I love the ocean.
