ABOUT THE PLAY
The Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare is a comedic exploration of relationships, societal expectations, and the complexities of human behavior. Set in Renaissance Italy, the play follows the lives of two sisters with contrasting personalities and the suitors vying for their attention. Themes of power, transformation and marriage are central to the story, offering a humorous yet thought-provoking commentary on gender roles and societal norms. Its engaging characters and clever dialogue have made it a cornerstone of literary and theatrical tradition, inspiring countless adaptations and discussions about its themes' relevance to contemporary audiences.

DIRECTOR'S NOTE
Nothing says “happy Valentines” like a great Shakespearean comedy about love! In fact, most of his comedies were about love. Including the good and the bad,
Good evening everyone and welcome to the Crismon Theater Company’s second Shakespeare production of The Taming of the Shrew. A great and hilarious tale of love and perspectives of love from both the Men and the Women’s side of things
This comedy, written over 300 years ago, presents us with over masculinity, feminism, how women and men see love and honor and all this way before it was a social concept.
Our production of this ridiculous farce on a bet of taming a toughened women is presented in more modern times and I must applaud this amazing cast for creating their own concepts of character and costumes.
Remember to take this show with tongue in cheek, be not offended, it all makes a great point in favor of the women at the very end (watch for the symbolism).
Enjoy tonight’s production of THE TAMING OF THE SHREW

DYLAN COLE GLASS
"Petruchio"
Dylan Glass is a dedicated young actor and honors student currently in eighth grade at Crismon High School. Since 2023, he has been an active member of the Crismon Theater Company, where he has showcased his talent in a variety of roles. His past performances include Hans in Frozen Jr., Lysander in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Judge Danforth in The Crucible. Now, he takes on the commanding role of Petruchio in The Taming of the Shrew, demonstrating his versatility and passion for the stage. His strong work ethic, stage presence, and dedication continue to make him a standout performer in the Crismon Theater Company.

ADAM VASQUEZ
"Petruchio"
My name is Adam Vasquez, and I’m a learning high school actor. I chose to build upon my experience in Crismon’s performance of The Crucible, and apply my newfound knowledge of theater into Taming of The Shrew. I’ve tried to approach both my role in The Crucible and Taming of the Shrew with a sincere want to improve and a commitment to the character. Although I have put I’ve put a lot of my own effort into this role, I could not have gotten close to being ready without the help and support from people in this cast. More specifically, Kile Mcknight, Mya Mendoza, Dylan Glass, and my brother, Brandon Vasquez. Without these people I seriously would've been screwed. I'm really proud of this play, and I hope you enjoy!

PENNY ERICKSON
"Katharina Minola"
Penny is a junior at Crismon High School. Previously seen as Mrs. Potts in 𝘉𝘦𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘵 and Elizabeth Proctor in 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘊𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘦, she went behind the scenes to work as tech as an assistant stage manager and follow spot operator during CHS’ most recent production of 𝘈𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘦 𝘑𝘳. While she thoroughly enjoyed her time in tech, she is thrilled to be returning to the stage as Katharina in William Shakespeare’s 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘛𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘸. She would like to thank her friends and family for always supporting her passions and making her smile, no matter what.

She is extremely honored to be given the opportunity to play the role of Katharina Minola, and would like to thank her directors, her family, and her loving friends for supporting her.
